📕 BOOK 9 - A Short Stay In Hell by Steven L Peck

📖 This book was such a mind boggler that it’s taken me a few days to do the knitting part and I’m still lost for words.

4 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

📕 BOOK 10 - The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

📖 I thought this book was going to be a solid four stars. It’s an amazing story told with an incredibly captivating writing style - so good I assumed the ending would end up being a disappointment (I call that the Stephen King Effect). Then the payoff was better than expected and I had to quickly knit another star.

Bonus Square - Duolingo

If I’ve done my maths right, my final blanket is going to need a bonus 4 squares. So here’s the first - A 2500 day streak on one of my favourite apps, Duolingo! It’s got its pros and cons, but it still opened the doors for an entirely new field of interest and I’ve got a lot to thank it for!

📕 BOOK 11 - The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix

📖 A few too many threads to keep track of to fully enjoy, but worth the read.

📕 BOOK 12 - A Short History of the World According to Sheep by Sally Coulthard

📖 A surprisingly fascinating way to approach all sorts of aspects of social, scientific and cultural history. Bonus points for including chapters about yarn and knitting.

4 stars. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

📕 BOOK 13 - Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

📖 I say this completely unironically as the best kind of compliment - I’d have loved this book when I was 15. Would recommend, but probably won’t finish the series.

4 stars (2 from me, 2 from my inner teenager) 🌟 ⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️

📕 BOOK 14 - Heroes by Stephen Fry

📖 Just as well written as Mythos, but the stories themselves are more repetitive. That’s just what happens when you stick so strongly to the source material, but that doesn’t stop it feeling a little tedious by the 378th trial. I am, however, now sufficiently hyped to read Troy soon.

📕 BOOK 15 - The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett

📖 I was warned that starting the Discword series from the start wasn’t necessary or even recommended, and I can sort of see why. Absolutely love the writing and the world-building, not totally sold on the story just yet. Looking forward to reading more instalments.

📕 BOOK 16 - The Trouble With Elephants by Julia Wolfendale

📖 Historical novel about a young apprentice at the real-life Belle Vue Zoo and his quest to find his favourite elephant a companion, with snapshots of other key characters, from fictional to real to animal.

💭 A lovely, cosy story with an authentic voice and a nice local connection for anyone else from Manchester.
